The story of Josie Richardson from Beverley who was
sent home by the minor injuries unit at the new Beverley
Hospital, is another blow to the struggling hospital reputation.
Mrs Richardson was told she had ligament damage and was
refused an x-ray at the new £20m hospital only to have a broken
ankle diagnosed 4 days later at Hull Royal.
Speaking today George McManus of the friends of Beverley Community
Hospital said, ‘This is another bitter blow to the hospital which is trying
to recovery from the damning CQC report this summer which saw 2/3
of the beds closed This is the latest case which adds to the anecdotal
evidence we have from patients dissatisfied with the Minor Injuries Unit’s
performance..’
He went on ‘ The chaotic management of the site where 2 different trusts
have differing responsibilities makes it difficult for patients to gain redress
in situations like these which just adds to the a bad patient experience.
The management needs to get sorted soon in order to deliver the holistic services
that people have a right to expect. I’m glad she was so well looked after at
Hull Royal, but it shouldn’t have been necessary.’
