TTIP: Ask Your MP to Support Alan Johnson’s Motion!

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) presents a real and live danger to our NHS by levering he Public Sector out of providing care, and giving unprecedented protection for US Corporations to cherry pick the profitable contracts.

Former Secretary of State for Health, Hessle and Hull West MP Alan Johnson has tabled an Early Day Motion to urge the Government to think again.

WHAT YOU CAN DO!

Below is a letter/ email which you can send to your MP asking them to support Alan’s motion. If your MP is a Minister or Shadow Minister they can still urge others to sign it.

Let us know if and when your representative replies, and what they say.

Dear MP, (if you’re unsure visit http://www.parliament.uk/get-involved/contact-your-mp/)

It has come to my attention that there has been an Early Day Motion (EDM 1234)http://www.parliament.uk/edm/2015-16/1234  that has been tabled by Alan Johnson MP which seeks to protect all public services from the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership and that the house commits to ensuring that the retention of sovereignty for decisions concerning the NHS will be a red line for future TTIP negotiations.

AS a constituent, I am therefor asking whether you intend to support this Early Day Motion given the recent legal advice that a Michael Bowsher QC recently provided that has come to my attention regarding the NHS and TTIP; see here: http://www.peoplesnhs.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/TTIP-Advice-201115.pdf

I would like to know your position on the above no later than two weeks of receiving this communication and by way of reply to this email or by return to my address given below.

I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read this email and hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards.
